Computer mice
The term “computer mouse” is very broad. These highly practical devices differ in several aspects: purpose, construction, connectivity, sensors and number of buttons. These are the factors that determine the overall functionality and comfort of using a mouse.
When it comes to connectivity, a computer mouse can be wired or wireless. What distinguishes them?
● wired mice – as the name suggests, they require connection to the computer via a cable with a USB connector. In the past, PS/2 cables were commonly used, but nowadays mice, keyboards and motherboards with that port are rare. They are somewhat cheaper than their wireless counterparts and do not require battery replacement or recharging. Among ENDORFY wired mice you will find, for example, GEM and LIX Onyx White;
● wireless mice – these are connected to the computer (desktop, laptop or other device) using a dedicated USB receiver-transmitter called a "dongle", using wireless communication technology (most often in the 2.4 GHz band) or via Bluetooth (less precise control than with a dedicated dongle - lower polling rate, higher latency). There are also wireless mice that support three or two connection methods - dongle, Bluetooth and wired. The advantage of wireless designs is greater mobility (no cable) and the ability to operate at a greater distance. In terms of purpose, we divide them into:
● gaming mice - their features include primarily a high polling rate (Polling Rate 1000 Hz), an advanced optical/laser sensor (high CPI/DPI, i.e. Counts Per Inch/Dots Per Inch), as well as programmable buttons, ergonomics for a specific grip, RGB/ARGB lighting, and optionally adjustable weight;
● office mice - standard mice with a simple construction, providing basic ergonomics and functionality;
● mobile mice - this type of computer mouse features small size, low weight, and is powered by AA/AAA batteries or a built-in battery;
● mice for graphic designers and creators - a professional computer mouse of this type provides exceptional precision and the ability to work on various surfaces (e.g. glass).
A computer mouse can have from 3 to even 12 buttons (and in some MMO models – even more). It is the number of buttons that determines functionality:
● standard 3 buttons - left, right and scroll wheel. They are sufficient for basic office work and web browsing;
● in mice with 4-5 buttons additional side buttons are used (e.g. serving by default as "back" and "forward" functions for web pages, galleries and similar programs). This is standard in universal and some gaming mice;
● gaming mice - may have an additional thumb button panel (6, 9 or 12). They are dedicated to assigning complex macros and skills in games.
Computer mice have different types of sensors to detect movement. In the past mechanical ball sensors were used – today technology has moved forward and we distinguish two main types:
● optical sensors – they use an LED, usually red, to track movement. They can work on most surfaces, however they are not as precise as their laser counterparts.
● laser sensors – these sensors are used in ENDORFY mice. Their operation is similar to optical counterparts, but their advantage is that they provide greater acceleration which is an advantage in dynamic games (e.g. FPS, MOBA), they usually offer higher maximum DPI (but this depends on the price range), and they often allow setting LOD (Lift off distance).
Wired computer mouse
An ENDORFY wired computer mouse, such as LIV or LIX Onyx White, features an ergonomic, lightweight construction, so using it for many hours does not tire the hand. They are characterized by excellent response time – ensured by Kailh GM 4.0 microswitches and PixArt PAW3311 and PixArt PMW3325 sensors. Thanks to the lightweight construction and advanced PTFE skates, each mouse easily glides across the mouse pad.
The icing on the cake is the dedicated software, in which you can, among other things, set preferred sensitivity profiles, change ARGB lighting, and create macros. Silent computer mouse
